Biographical History
BORN: 2368 - Ihhliae, Romulus
Kritus was only 19 when Hobus exploded, but it was perhaps the most defining moment in his life. At once obliterating his past, and forever changing his future. An Uhlun in his first year of training at the Romulan Naval Academy, Kritus was on a basic shuttlecraft piloting excursion at the time of the supernova. The explosion rocked the shuttlecraft, and his instructor, erei'riov tr'Joachim was killed in the resulting fire. Kritus barely managed to get the fire out before falling unconscious.
Kritus awoke in an unfamiliar medical bay, aboard the U.S.S. Merrimac with minor burns and being treated for smoke inhalation. That awakening was the beginning of his new life. Once the realization came to him that he would not be returning to the Academy on Romulus, he applied for refugee status with the United Federation of Planets, and took up residence on the Federation Colony of Casmus III.
Kritus developed a keen interest in the United Federation of Planets and Starfleet after significant research into his new home. In 2403, Kritus applied for citizenship in the United Federation of Planets, but due to his Romulan heritage and position at the Romulan Naval Academy, was denied. He did not allow this to stop him in his goal of becoming a Starfleet officer, and devoted himself to the study of Starship Engineering. He managed to fill a position as chief engineer on a civilian freighter which was providing relief and planetary aid to systems in the Delta Volantis cluster, which gained him valuable engineering experience and demonstrated his dedication to Federation ideals.
Kritus applied again for citizenship in 2307, and was accepted as a Citizen of the united Federation of Planets late that year. He applied, and was accepted into Starfleet Academy in 2308, thanks to a recommendation from the Captain of the freighter, who happened to be a retired Starfleet Commander.
In the Academy, Kritus specialized in Engineering, putting his experiences from both the Romulan Academy and from his time on the civilian freighter to excellent use, graduating third in his class and being assigned to the U.S.S. Essence Operations Department.
Everything changed again during an encounter with the Borg when Ensign tr'Mennes was assigned to lead an away team to assist a damaged Federation Starship that had been boarded by Borg drones. Ensign tr'Mennes successfully led his away team to dispatch the Borg, but upon his return to the U.S.S. Essence, Command of the vessel was thrust upon him as all of the senior staff had been killed by a Borg boarding party. While distraught at this sudden loss of his mentors and friends, and the reality of the brutailty of battle, he deftly took command and brought the ship into battle under the orders of Admiral Quinn, along with a field comission to the rank of Leiutenant.
Leiutenant tr'Mennes performed exceptionally in the battle, assisting the Starfleet Armada in turning back the Borg. He was summonned back to Earth Spacedock, where Admiral Quinn made his promotion to Leiutenant official, and granted him the command of the U.S.S. Essence.
Leiutenant tr'Mennes was then assigned to the Frontier Fleet, and instructed to contact his new Commanding Officer, VAdm Robert Charles Graham, of the U.S.S. Gawain for further orders.
Leiutenant tr'Mennes flourished under the command of VAdm Graham, rapidly rising through the ranks by displaying his invaluable leadership and devotion to Starfleet and the Frontier Fleet. Shortly after his promotion to Captain, Kritus tr'Mennes applied for the position of Frontier Fleet Judge Advocate General, and after careful consideration by Frontier Fleet Staff, was accepted as head legal advisor for the fleet and promoted to the rank of Commodore.
Commodore tr'Mennes wasted no time in ensuring that all members of Frontier Fleet were well versed in Federation Law, specifically the United Federation of Planets Uniform Code of Justice as it applies to members of Starfleet. Swift justice being enacted within the ranks of Frontier Fleet contributed to a incident-free period or exemplary discipline, and Kritus was promoted to Rear Admiral.
