First Point of Interest: KDF Imperial Frontier Fleet
We recently announced that due to the request of some members, the KDF Imperial Frontier Fleet is being revitalized and hope to develop it to enhance fleet member play. There are currently approximately 25 toons active in the KDF Imperial Frontier Fleet, contributing and revealing themselves as a flag of honor to all that witness their accomplishments. Concentration now focuses on the Fleet Mine; when the mine is completed to the level of tier III, it will save us 15% on all other holding projects, and also selected purchases of equipment. We currently project that this will be complete before the end of April 2015. Once the Fleet Mine is complete, the next step will to get to Tier I on all three other holdings so that we can earn fleet provisions to be used by contributing members to purchase fleet equipment. Fleet members are welcome and invited to join and recruit for the KDF Imperial Frontier Fleet as to offer prosperity to the cause of honor.
Second Point of Interest: Commodities
Some commodities can be purchased cheaper at the commodities console, located in the shuttlebay of Frontier's Embassy, than all other STO vendors found throughout the Star Trek universe. (Fed fleet only at this time.) You are welcome to find the savings there, which is significantly cheaper than their counterpart purchase locations. A welcome advance to your EC wallet. (Note: You can purchase them on the Fed side and send them over to your KDF toons.)
Third Point of Interest: Frontier Fleet official information website
The Frontier Fleet would highly encourage all members to register on the fleet's home website: sto-frontier-fleet.proboards.com This will hold you true to all the fleet has to offer in information and knowledge of fleet events, structural inner workings, and communication with your fleet-mates. It is encouraged that you check the website frequently to participate and stay informed regarding fleet and STO-wide activities. Please note that you only need to create a single forum account as you don't need one for each of your characters. In your profile, please ensure that the "@handle” field (in the profile's personal settings tab) has your @accountname that is used in STO. In doing this, it will insure that all your characters are properly identified within the site. Most people name their forum account either after their primary STO character or after their STO account name.
Fourth Point of Interest: Fed Tier V Starbase
Our Tier V Starbase is in prime vision as we continue to donate to construction upgrade projects. Soon the best fleet equipment will be a welcome sight to our fleet as we celebrate this addition to a growing fleet with desires to reach for the planets unknown. The biggest area of need is dilithium, so it is requested that you please take some time to earn dilithium and donate it to the upgrade projects. If everyone helps, the projects will be done quickly. Please do NOT rely on everyone else to do it.Fifth Point of interest: Fleet Positions Open
For those that are interested in doing more than just playing their characters and doing missions, we do have interior fleet positions open that might interest you. Please review our Organization Structure for specifics. Please note that the goal of these positions is meant to enhance the play of the fleet members who desire a more active role within the fleet. Some are leadership positions and some are contributor level positions. Some of these positions have overarching responsibilities in both the Federation and Klingon fleets while others can be split between the two. There may even be something you'd be interested in doing that we haven't thought of. Even though some work will be involved, we hope this will be fun for you. If you have any questions or suggestions about any position please contact Bam-Bam.Sixth Point of Interest: Fleet Communications
Seventh Point of Interest: Delta RecruitmentFrontier News Network: We are working to restart these and will try to get them out at the beginning of each month. If you have anything for these newsletters, please let me know at least a week ahead of time. Since this is the first one in quite a while, it’s much longer than I expect future ones to be, but do want it to be informative and useful. If you're interested in writing tips or a short helpful article for these, please do so! Your feedback is desired.
-Frontier- Channel: This in our in-game channel to facilitate communication between all of our characters, regardless of which faction and fleet they’re in. If you have not done so, please sign up for this channel. This is one of the best places to get help with a mission, create an ad hoc team or simply ask a question.
Messages of the Day: In-game, I constantly use the Fleet “Message of the Day” capability to pass along timely information – especially for fleet project contributions. Please note that there is an overarching messages that automatically show in the “Fleet” channel when you log in as well as specific holding (Starbase, Embassy, Mine and Spire) messages that you can view from the appropriate holding tab.
Fleet Voice Chat: The Frontier Fleet welcomes all our fleet members to join the web-based fleet voice chat channel. To do so, simply download "RaidCall" from the internet and enter RaidCall ID# 6203943. In doing this you will be granted access to The Frontier Fleet voice chat channel, where you can talk instead of type to all your fleet comrades. This capability also enhances team event play as you'll be able to more effectively coordinate attacks and defenses while engaged in a mission. I try to monitor the channel even when I'm not in-game, so it is an excellent way to get into direct contact.
Fleet Forum: This is a great place to discuss things like ship builds, information on new capabilities, and even role playing. I often place links in the “Shoutbox” letting everyone know of some new information that they might have missed. Everyone is encouraged to take advantage of this capability.
Eight Point of Interest: Fleet Open Door PolicyDelta Recruitment is almost here! During this event, currently scheduled to start 2 April, we will be allowed to create a new character for free. If you desire to create a KDF allied toon, please consider joining the Imperial Frontier Fleet. During the event, there will be both character and account level rewards for accomplishing different things on this new character; including levels, R&D school, etc. Recruits who are at least level 30 get a task to join a Fleet. This brings with it some fantastic rewards that will really help our fleet complete projects we’re working on. I will be creating a new KDF toon during this event and invite each of you to join me. Qapla'
Both the Frontier Fleet and the Imperial Frontier Fleet operate with a total “open door” policy environment. This means that at any time any fleet member is able, and encouraged to discuss any matter of concern with any member of the fleet's command staff. Although Starfleet and KDF both use a military style chain of command, any fleet member is welcome to approach any fleet officer and address any inquires or issues that they may have. In the light of this, both fleets fully appreciate and acknowledge the fact that in order to have a functional fleet with a high morale, the input and respect of all its members is integral.Final Thoughts:
I just wanted to take moment and welcome everyone to the Frontier Fleet. As many of you know, although I've been a member of the Frontier Fleet since June 2012 (starting as the Supply Officer, then the Director of Logistics, then the Executive Officer,) I only took command of the Federation fleet last year and joined and took command of the Imperial Frontier Fleet only a few months ago. We are making small incremental changes to the fleets and to our website as we have time. I have brought some commonality to both fleet to allow them to function similarly. As this fleet is for the enjoyment of all members, I really do welcome everyone's input! I have been making changes to the website (regulations, permissions, etc.,) so please understand that they're both in a little flux. If you have any concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
One of the things Admiral Janus and I started doing at the beginning of the year is to purge the fleet of inactive members. We published a new Fleet Inactivity policy and implemented it January.
Another main area of focus are the fleet holdings. As most of you already read, we are getting close to finishing the final starbase holdings on the Federation side in the next few months. Once we are completely finished with all the projects, we will make provision projects available to allow people to earn fleet credits. Now, on the KDF side, we're basically just getting started. As such, the plan is to focus only on the Fleet Mine first. The reason we do this is at the completion of the mine, we will get a 15% discount on all other fleet projects, and so instead of needing a million each of something, it's discounted by 15%, saving us millions overall. Additionally, that 15% affects your personal purchases where dilithium is used. Once the mine is complete, we can start working on everything else as I described above in the first point of interest. I do keep the status of the projects updated on our website's main page. As a reminder, I also change the "Message of the Day" for the appropriate fleet as well as each of the holdings, so please read them.
As with any volunteer organization, we ask that people please consider looking at ways to help the fleet as it makes the workload lighter for everyone. (And you're not always waiting for one of the senior officers to get online or do backend work.) Do not assume that someone else will do it. Everyone has something that can benefit another fleet member or the fleet as a whole, so please consider it. As many of you have seen me say, we do understand that real life takes precedence over games, so please don't feel guilty if you can't put in as much time as you'd like.
Lastly, I’d like to thank Zion for getting the Frontier News Network restarted. He put together the outline and much of the content and I very much appreciate his work.
